The Gospel for Today
Friday of the Fourth Week of Easter
Jn. 14: 1-6
Jesus said to his disciples:
“Do not let your hearts be troubled.
You have faith in God; have faith also in me.
In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places.
If there were not,
would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you?
And if I go and prepare a place for you,
I will come back again and take you to myself,
so that where I am you also may be.
Where I am going you know the way.”
Thomas said to him,
“Master, we do not know where you are going;
how can we know the way?”
Jesus said to him, “I am the way and the truth and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through me.”
Reflection (Sem. Randy Buquis)
“I am the way and the truth and the life”. In todays Gospel God is inviting us to trust in Him in order for us to reach our own destination in the home of God. The Gospel depicts the relationship of Jesus Christ with the Father. Jesus is the way in order for us to know the Father. He is the truth that reveals himself as the Son of God and without Him we have no life. This is also reminds me on how Jesus did his self-affirmation.
Here in the seminary I was able to discover that one of my issues is the self-affirmation. I was able to live in only one side of myself which is the negative side. When I was in RCW I’ m having difficulty to tell myself that I am good. It just stuck in my mind that I am weak person, always saying I can’t, having no capacity, not believing myself and always putting myself as hopeless and helpless. Only here in the seminary I was able to see myself that I can do a lot of things not the extraordinary but as simple like sports, to sing, to dance, and most importantly to plunge in different activities and challenges in the seminary. Regarding this I need to do my self-care and to celebrate on those I succeed even in the smaller things I achieved.
The Gospel is an invitation for me to trust on how Jesus trusted the Father. On the other hand it also serves as an invitation for me to become the way, the truth and the life to others. Just like what I’m praying every start of the day to do small good deeds to others. This can only be achieved if we depend ourselves in God, imitating the works of God and we always rely on God. oming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
